ae inputs on the “oppression” subject.
it is understandable we *kin sometimes feel targeted, misunderstood, and mistreated, because that is a common case here on tumblr. however, by definition, for a group to be oppressed requires systematic targeting by an authority. there have definitely been incidents where someone was harmed for identifying with the *kin community. this does not equal oppression. for example, it is entirely possible for a caucasian individual to be the victim of a hate crime because of the color of their skin in the united states. there are many of these incidents recorded. this does not mean that white-skinned individuals are oppressed in the united states.
education and awareness are factors to be looked at. the fact is that the majority of people have no idea what the *kin community is, or that it even exists. no politicians will make stances on *kin issues the same way that they will for lgbtqa+ issues. there are no laws in the united states that specifically, unfairly burden the *kin community.
to conclude; individual experiences cannot be used to draw conclusions about a whole.
